| About Kangaroo Jones |
Kangaroo Jones Is:

Matt Garrison – Saxophone
Brian Kornfeld – Drums, Percussion
Joe Dubbiosi - Bass, Violin

In September of 1993, Brian Riback decided it would be a good idea to record a song he had written called, “No Name.” After bringing close to twelve musicians into his basement to record this three minute song, one guitar player really clicked with Riback. Steve Lefkow and Brian began to write together, and found a very strong similarity in musical tastes and writing styles. Brian and Steve then split off from the existing group but knew that the band needed to be a bit bigger than two. Steve mentioned this guitarist friend of his, Chris Richmond. He auditioned some of our music and became interested. The band molded so naturally that we all knew we were on to something great. Adding a horn section, including Brian Samples (Trombone) and Matt Garrison (Saxophone), the group really gained a tremendous dynamic of excitement and an even stronger sound.
In 2006, Brian Kornfeld signed on as the band’s drummer. His experience in recording, touring, and playing brought a wealth of experience to the band that has translated into an improved culture and sound for KJ.
At the end of 2007, Brian Kornfeld mentioned, almost in passing, "Hey Ribs, how about you put down that bass, focus on singing and let me bring in this friend of mine?" Everyone in the group agreed to give it a shot and once the guys heard Joe Dubbiosi play, there was no question about it. It freed Brian up to just focus on singing and brought in a schooled and talented musician to further improve the KJ sound...It didn't hurt that he also plays violin.
After 14 years, the band is still going strong and all of these efforts have led to the release of the group's first full length studio album, “Are We There Yet.” The band looks forward to supporting this release with live shows throughout the New York Metropolitan Area.
Previous shows have included supporting gigs with Hootie & The Blowfish, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Gavin DeGraw and more. The band’s most frequently visited venues include, The Borgata in Atlantic City, The Bitter End in New York City, Six Flags Great Adventure, as well as many others.
With so much experience under their belt, Kangaroo Jones continues to supply a powerhouse sound and an on and off stage personality that keeps crowds hungry for more.
